WIDA Conference 2020 has arrived! Register today to attend the most innovative conference on the future of education. Find out about the conference's purpose and what you can look forward to learning. These are the highlights that you will want to see. We'll also talk about eSummit sessions as well as the Keynote speaker and Video Library Conferences. We'll also touch on how to register and what you can expect from WIDA Conference 2020.

Session of eSummit

WIDA is delighted to announce its online eSummit learning opportunity. This program is open to all domestic WIDA Consortium Members, including federal agencies, state governments, and territories. WIDA eSummit 2019 will focus on navigational and design aspects of the 2020 Edition WIDA ELD. You can find out more on the WIDA eSummit site.

WIDA staff and educators will be the main speakers in the eSummit sessions. Experts from the field will also be present. Vietthanh Nien, the keynote speaker, was a Finalist for the PEN/Faulkner and a Pulitzer Prize Award winner. Other sessions will address topics relevant to educators of K-12 multilingual students and will also feature the WIDA English Language Development Standards Framework. WIDA staff will present at the eSummit and provide updates via social media.

Registration requirements

The WIDA Annual Conference was launched in 2013 and has traveled to many cities nationwide since. 600 participants attended the first conference. There was a long waitinglist. Today, the conference draws more than 1,000 attendees. Register for the conference at the WIDA website. This year's theme is Educating Diverse Learners: Building Communities of Practice. These are the registration requirements for the conference to help you plan.


WIDA Annual Conference requires that you are a member. WIDA members can get discounts on conferences. Register by entering the code "WIDA", at registration. You can view the complete schedule of events once you have registered. Once you've registered, it is possible to review the conference program and choose the sessions which are most relevant to your professional advancement. The conference has two keynote speakers.

Keynote speaker

The WIDA conference is the premier event for educators, and the keynote speaker will be Viet Thanh Nguyen, a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Dayton Literary Peace Prize finalist, and professor at the University of Southern California. WIDA eConference will have sessions that are aligned with conference theme. These sessions are intended for educators who work with K-12 multilingual students. WIDA English Development Standards Framework will be also featured. Participants will have the opportunity to select from up to five concurrent sessions in each block.

WIDA conference will include online presentations, curated sessions and post-event accessibility to recordings. Additionally, the WIDA eConference will feature a spotlight session focused on parent outreach. WIDA's featured educator program will highlight outstanding colleagues in the classroom, district and state education fields. WIDA will host key note speakers as well as educational leaders via our Featured educator program.

Video Library Conference

Video Library Conference will allow library professionals to share information and best practices to advance video reference. Using this digital platform attendees can view conference footage from any PC/Mac, iDevice/web browser. Attendees don't need special hardware to access the videos, and they can share their online credentials with other library colleagues. You can also access the conference program using the video library's detailed instructions.

On Oct. 13, 2019, the PLA celebrated their 75th anniversary. The PLA will continue to celebrate its history through 2020. The PLA released an Anniversary video, featuring stories from members, and started a fundraising campaign in order to provide 15 scholarships at the Video Library Conference 2020. Library school students, early career librarians, support staff are all eligible to receive scholarships. Two new initiatives were developed by the organization with Microsoft to support librarian staff and enhance professional development. There are many programs that support libraries to grow and thrive.

How can elearning enhance traditional learning?

E-learning has been around since the 1980s and is still evolving. There are so many types of online learning that it is impossible to list them all. These are the most commonly used e-learning methods.

  1. To supplement traditional learning, e-learning can be used. An interactive whiteboard may be used by a teacher to demonstrate a concept. She can also record her voice explaining the concept through audio technology. The audio file could be listened to by students after class to reinforce what they were taught.
