FAQ

How do you choose the right eLearning platform to use for your business?

There are thousands of eLearning platforms available today. Some are free while some are more costly.

You need to ask questions when deciding between these options.

  • Do you have the desire to create your own learning materials. You have many options to create your eLearning courses using free tools. These include Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, Lectora, iSpring Suite, and Camtasia.
  • Are you looking to buy ready-made eLearning course? Pre-packaged courses are available from a variety of companies. These courses cost between $20 and $100. Mindjet and Edusoft are the most well-known.
  • Are you looking for a mix of both? Many people find that they get better results if they combine their own materials with the ones provided by companies.
  • Which option is right? It depends on your situation. If you are new at eLearning you may prefer to create your own material. Once you are comfortable with eLearning, however, you might want to purchase a pre-designed course.

Do you need an Internet connection to eLearning?

It all depends on what you are trying to accomplish. There is no need to connect to the internet if you're just taking an online class. If you want to access interactive features, such as quizzes and other forms of interaction, you will need to have internet access.

What equipment is needed to do eLearning effectively?

Start an online course by making sure you have everything setup correctly. Adobe Captivate and a webcam are two of the most important tools you will need.

You must also make sure that you have the correct software installed. This includes Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat Reader Flash Player Java Runtime Environment QuickTime 7 and Shockwave Flash 10.0.

Camtasia Studio from TechSmith is another screen capture tool you may want to consider. It allows you to record what is happening on your computer screen while you are working.

Last but not least, you may want to download a WebEx or GoToMeeting web conferencing software. These programs let you connect with others who are viewing the same presentation simultaneously. They allow you to share your computer with others.

What is the purpose of eLearning?

Learners can engage in learning activities online at any time, from anywhere. It allows them to learn anytime they want and wherever they are.

E-Learning also enables the learner to interact with others who have similar interests. This interaction enhances communication skills and knowledge sharing.

The technology allows students to transfer information between teachers and students. The technology used should be robust enough to support the delivery of high-quality content.

E-learning is a cost-saving tool that reduces travel expenses for training purposes.

This saves time and money because the learner can complete their coursework while they are working or on vacation.

What should my eLearning course be like?

Your eLearning course should encourage interaction between learners.

This means that both the design and content must be simple to use.

It also means that the content needs to be interesting and engaging.

You need to be aware of three things in order to make sure your eLearning course meets the requirements.

Content

You must decide what content to include in your online course. In addition to the content itself, you also need to decide how long each section of the course should be. You will decide how much time each topic should be covered if you're teaching someone how write letters.

Navigation

The second decision that you must make is how you want learners to navigate through your course. Do you want your learners to navigate through the course one page at a time? Or do you want them able to jump to particular parts of the course immediately?

Design

The last step is to decide the appearance of your course. This includes deciding the time it will take each screen to load, and the size of the font. It is also important to decide whether graphics (such as photos) will be included.

Once you've made the necessary decisions, it's time to test the course and make sure it works.
